The bloodied corpse of a retired teacher discovered from his own home in Netrokona

In Netrokona, the bloodied body of a retired teacher named Dilip Kumar Roy (71) was recovered from his own house. The incident occurred this Friday morning in the Barabazar area of the city.

Dilip was a resident of the same area and a retired professor from the Agricultural Studies Department of Netrokona Abu Abbas College. His ancestral home is in Maijar, Cumilla.

According to sources from the police, family members, and local residents, Dilip Roy and his wife Biva Saha have a son and daughter living in Dhaka. Their son, Rajib Kumar Roy, works as a Deputy Director of the Microcredit Regulatory Authority (MRA) under the Ministry of Finance. A few days ago, Biva Saha went to visit their son, leaving Dilip Roy alone at home. Last Thursday at around 10 p.m., after having dinner, he closed the door and went to sleep. This morning around 7 a.m., the domestic helper called out to him but, hearing no response, left. Later, around 10:30 a.m., his wife, Biva Saha, returned from Dhaka and found the door locked. With the help of neighbors, the lock was broken, and upon entering, she found her husband’s bloodied body under the bed. He was taken to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Relatives of Dilip Roy expressed their confusion over how such an incident could have happened, asserting that he had no known enemies. They suspect that criminals entered the house with the intent of theft or robbery and hacked him to death.

Regarding the matter, Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Lutfor Rahman from the district police's special branch stated that multiple police teams are working in the field to investigate the incident and take action against the culprits.
